Go beyond the website: Make it personal.

There’s a fine line between choice and confusion, and so we try our best to curate our materials and customisation options so as to not bamboozle our customers with drop-down lists that rival the yellow pages.

However, every single one of our custom knives are made from scratch in our workshop and so we can indulge and support pretty much any whim or want, however simple or peculiar.

Here’s a (not very) short list of some things which you may not know we can do….

      1. Delve in to our ever-evolving, changing and mutating stash of woods, a small snapshot of which is shown at the top of the page. We work primarily with four main timber suppliers, with the majority of our tropical hardwoods coming from the fantastic Dalmann: based 20 minutes away from us, we first came across them when Laurie was living and working in Mozambique – they provide not only exceptional timber that has been incredibly well cared for and treated, but they are a shining beacon of sustainability and ethics in a country whose forestry industry is sadly lacking in both…
      2. Don’t be limited by text – we can engrave sigils, logos, drawings, sketches and even hand-written messages on to your blade. If it’s black and white then we’re good to go, and even if it’s not ping it over and we’ll see what we can do (and, of course, send you a preview before committing the engraver in to action).
      3. Or maybe you have an old cupboard or mantelpiece (or even a fallen tree in your garden) that you think, suitable dried and prepared by us, might look spiffing on a knife?
      4. Maybe there’s a little steel itch we can scratch for you? We have beautiful carbon damascus for our outdoor knives, RWL34 (a powdered metallurgical steel) ready to take any of our blades to a level of truly exceptional edge-holding, some lovely 67-layer VG10 core san mai that can be used and whatever you like, some 135-layer coreless stainless that needs to be seen to be believed. If we can source it, we can use it.
      5. Big hands? Not a problem – we can easily adjust the size of our handles to better fit those who can pick up basketballs upside down and one handed.
      6. And if you’ve just re-designed your kitchen and it’s looking absolutely the business, but your knives are letting the side down? Send us a photograph and we’ll come back to you with some design suggestions that complement, contrast, match and flatter your new room.
      7. Have a lovely old outdoor knife that’s coming to the end of its days? (or have an idea for a knife that no-one makes) then get in touch – we can make custom, one-off outdoor knives from only £500, exactly to your specifications.
      8. Golden rule No.1 is that our blade dimensions are set in stone. Golden Rule No.2 is that rules are meant to be broken, and so if you’ve an urge to add a centimetre here or take away an inch there then just let us know.
      9. Are you in to vexillology? We can create handles – and matching engravings – based on a wide range of flags. We need at times to be a bit creative, but we’ve yet to be defeated by a challenge!
      10. We can make transparent handles full of dried flowers, herbs, spices and pretty much anything else that’s small enough to fit inside – even computer circuit boards if that’s your thing.
      11. Groping around trying to find your knife for a bit of midnight cheddar-chopping on the QT? Or when you’re out and about in the wilds at dusk do you put it down, wander off and then have to come back the next morning to find the damn thing? Then glowing handles are your friend…
      12. We like hills and mountains. If you are lucky enough to live on one, with the fine views such locations afford, then congratulate yourself further by having the contour lines around your house finely engraved across the blade.
      13. Big on matchy-matchy? We can make carving and presentation boards (and knife stands and racks) to complement your knife set.
      14. Sometimes – particularly, we find, when cooking outside and in the last 10 minutes of panic as the BBQ is coming together – it’s just worth having a stupidly sharp serrated knife that’ll do anything. Any of our custom knives can be serrated, with large or small serrations, at no extra charge.
      15. Do you like your British Standard, get thrilled by RAL and become positively delirious with glee at the prospect of a sexy pantone? Then get in touch as we’re experts at finding ways of incorporating very particular colours and tones in our handles.
      16. Every knife we make has offcuts – and so why not ask us to do something with them for you? From key fobs to pry bars, we’d be very happy to extend the style of your knife to a little something fun that will come with it.
      17. Have a hankering for some mil-spec shenanigans? Just down the road from us are some boys whose day job is coating designated marksman rifles for the MOD, but they’re extremely good at coating our blades in shades ranging from classic blacks and khakis to the World’s Greatest Colour, i.e. Orange.
      18. Talk to us about Fat Carbon. It’s the absolutely bee’s knees!
      19. Take any material for our BBQ range and put it on our custom knives, extract our Kitchen Knife handles and put them on an outdoor blade, put our custom handles on our carving sets. You get the drift…
      20. We can take any of our outdoor knives (or one of yours if you can send us good photos) and make a folding version of it for you.
      21. Not sure what knife you need for a particular task? Get in touch and let us suggest some options – if nothing else, we’ve hundreds of designs that aren’t on our website and so the library is there for you to plunder.
      22. There are lots of people on ebay making all sorts of amazing handle blanks. Have a browse and if something takes your fancy then send it to us and we’ll put it on a knife for you.
      23. Can you make lightsabre-styled knives? Yes.
      24. Have us make you a bespoke magnetic rack (either wall-mounted or free-standing) that fits precisely the space available in your kitchen.
      25. Gold plating? Of course! (and silver plating too for those of you on a budget…)
