Compact yet comprehensive

Sometimes big isn’t better, and here are four blades from the smaller end of the spectrum. Each has a custom-made, layered G10 handle which is not only visually striking and thoroughly ergonomic, but one of the most durable materials we hold in our stash.

The Stout Yeoman is ideal for working in the hand (peeling apples, digging out those annoying eyes in potatoes) and also for getting stuck in the last, and tastiest, morsels on a roast.

The Nimble Chopper is perfect for smaller root veg, herbs and garnishes. With a shallow blade that still affords you some meaningful knuckle clearance, it’s been a mainstay in our range since its inception.

While clearly most spiritually at home getting in to stuck in lemons, limes and cucumbers the G&T Slicer is a handy little blade to have around the kitchen when depth of cut is needed, but the length of a larger blade is unwelcome.

The main blade of the troup is the Compact Chef, which is chef’s knife for those people who aren’t drawn to chef’s knives. It’s got a pronounced rock, to offset the smoother edges of the other blades, and while the smallest chef’s knife we make – in the European style at least – it’s still one of the most capable and popular.

The handles are made in the workshop from layers of 0.8mm G10, a fibreglass acrylic and resin blend. Used in industry whenever toughness is called for, here it offers grip and absolutely zero maintenance levels.
